Entrance apartment Floris Versterstraat, Amsterdam

Today starts the sale of this lovely apartment with a terrace, deck and garden (south) in Amsterdam. This week we staged this Amsterdam Art Deco home into a comfortable and intimate dwelling for a single household or a young couple. The apartment is located nearby the entrance of the Vondelpark and the exit to the A10. Within a ten minutes stroll through the old park you can enjoy some high end shopping experiences at the PC Hooftstraat and within 3 minutes from there you’ll find yourself in the heart of the old city.

New York Fashion Week is presenting Fall/Winter 2010 and according to Suzy Menkes of the New York Times sporty influences are to discern in some new collections. I think this theme with a never ending archive of inspirations will be applied in interiors too. Check out this image I’ve found at the Dutch website of Vitra. It’s a photo by Tom Crabtree.

Modules

item sofa patrick jouin bernhardt Modules

Another tendency for this season is the design of modular products. This sofa  with the name Item is a modular seating product and I love it for its forms. There are many combinations to make and I like this one the most for its sloping contours. The shape if Item will fit  in a large living where people can walk around it and use the sofa as an island of conversation. For Bernhardt|design the Frenchman Patrick Jouin created this modular lounge; click here for more info.

Inside out

a 2007 edition from vogue us Inside out

Another interpretation of one of the new tendencies in interiors is the pursuance of the living on the deck of terrace. Since a couple of years the design of garden furniture is developing and becomes as important as the decoration of the interiors. This phenomena result in harmonious settings that flow over from one to the other. I must confess that I do not remember from what magazine I’ve kept this  testimonial of outside living at the lakes, but it’s gorgeous and not to forget easily. (I guess I ‘ve torn it from a 2007 US Vogue edition)

Cabane

marie claire maison 2008 or 2009 edition Cabane

Cabane is the title of my favourite song by Gilbert Becaud. The song text is about Becaud’s simple hut that is at the beach and functions as a sort of safe haven. It has a lot of similarities with the Marcel Wanders description of his new fabric designs for the Spanish brand Kettal. This Dutch and many times awarded designer presented the Kettal Atmosphere collection in a pavilion at the Maison & Objet’s grounds. Have a look at the video and learn what his idea is of a natural experience.

Outside in

February 10th, 2010

elle decoration july 2007 Outside in

For this year I’ve planned to visit The Salone di Mobile and hopefully Zona Tortona in order to see the new lines and ideas of designers and labels. This Italian fair is taking place in April and that is too far away in my calendar to await patiently what kind of new things to expect. In order to satisfy my curiosity I’ve visited the website of the French fair that took place last January. The name of it is Maison & Objet and at its site is a nice video with an introduction to the tendencies in interiors. One of its tendencies is the disappearance of the borders between in and out or out and in.

The above image shows the impact of the forest in this Brazilian home by its glass construction. Another way to get nature in your home is to purchase a very big potted plant or a groupe of different sorts of plants.

emilies colour scheme SS/10

In addition to my blog post about the Spring Summer 2010 colour palette, I would like to inspire you with some colouring that will spice up the rather timid tones in camel-, skin- and stones. For this blog post I’ve  been browsing through my favourite websites of Habitat, Antropologie, Vitra, Tom Dixon, Liberty, KA International and made up that yellow, orange, faded pomegrate, bottle green, smoked blue and grayish aubergine are the favourite tones to combine. Have a look and see if the screen dumps of the new lines will motivate you to get your interiors ready for spring!
