Kartell's Frilly
Kartell’s Frilly

The preparation part of the home staging process generates the highest fun factor of the whole project. As a home stager you have the opportunity to think about the best interiors for your client’s home in order to accelerate its sales.  This ideation is demanding; it will not stop until I’ve found the best style and identity for its home so I can create an image that is appealing to potential buyers.

The next stage after ideation is the moment when I ‘m looking for the right furniture and accessories. I’m not a fan of leasing stuff and this principle leads me to shopping, dealing and renovating pieces that I can apply for several styles. This chair, a creation by Patricia Urquiola, is to combine well with today’s design as well with antiques and old decorative objects. The Spanish designer created this elegant chair for Kartell that is available in several colours. Check here for more about Kartell.

Autoban’s style

As mentioned before; I do like Autoban’s design and the reason is their style. The identity of this Turkish design company ’s work is the blend of her Oriental heritage and today’s standards for aesthetics. Their lay-outs have strong linear constructions that result in an almost rigid impact for the trespasser or viewer.  But Autoban’s daring colour palettes,  added with lots of black and white , do soften this rather almost cool image. I must confess that I have not been in the position yet, to experience the result of their creations , so I can only advice you to visit their website and have a moment of joy. Autoban rocks!

I’m a fan of Autoban’s work and design. Autoban refers to the name of the number one Turkish design company, owned and established by Seyan Özdemir and Sefer Çaĝlar. This designer’s duo delivers beautiful results in furniture, interiors and architecture. The Deco Sofa is their latest creation that is sober but elegant. Tomorrow more about Autoban’s style.

Vogue Entertaining + Travel February March edition 2010

I’m ending these series about culinary inspirations with the February | March edition of the Vogue Entertaining + Travel. This Mediterranean issue covers some delightful Turkish dishes that are colourful and inspiring. The visual above presents a daring colour palette of aquamarine, lime, sky blue and sun kissed pomegrate. I think this combination is to apply on a yacht, a garden | terrace nearby the sea or a kitchen in your summer home.

Spring lobster

from Donna Hay Magazine

For today, we have lobster in a dark apricot/ burnt orange tone, served with zesty yellow and rinsed indigo. This combination works for a sun lit living, study or dining room. I like the fresh palette and applied it in a health care center for the reason that the freshness of the yellow tone is in balance with the confident impact of the orange and blue tones.

Rosemary white bean salad

March 14th, 2010

This colour palette with the grey-ish greens from the rosemary and the antique rose from the red onions is a perfect addition to a white plastered spacious living or loft. These matured tones are easy to match with today’s design, retro or antiques. As to observe in the visual above, the weathered wood of the cutting board accommodate the three samples. So with this display of a lovely Donna Hay dish of rosemary white been salad, a suggestion for a colour palette has been made in a jiffy.

Sparkling chocolate

The faded brown of the chocolate soufflé fits well with the glaced china black, that causes a blue-ish shimmer. The orange sorbetto tops this combination, but with an unpretentious quantity. This colour palette is classic and sober and sparkles with yellow. I think the palette would be great to apply in an office, located on the north.

Thai colour palette

from Vogue Entertaining + Travel

This is a palette that should be applied with care, just like its recipe. The egg yolk and the cardinal’s purple are tones that are crying for attention. To smother these cries, you can use lots of red and green with the ultimate balanced colour scheme as an outcome.

vogue entertaining and travel february march 2010 emilies colour inspirations

Last week I’ve written a post about the new colour schemes by Farrow & Ball. In it I mentioned that the novelty about the schemes is the combination of existing tones. The inspirations that resulted in the new schemes differ per designer, decorator or brand. My inspirations come from travelling, movies and cooking. I’m a fan of the Donna Hay magazines and the editions of Vogue Entertaining + Travel. In these Australian culinary bibles the dishes have been styled with an elegant simplicity and photographed in that typical down under contrast full mode. In the next following posts I would like to indulge you with some fantastic and today’s colour schemes that will inspire you to update your home for the new coming season.

While the new season for the interiors industry is still fresh, I’m already eager to show you the prêt aàporter colour palettes for the next winter season. The reason behind this eagerness is that I believe that the classic time paths of seasons in both industries (fashion and interiors) will change and that the consumer will decide when what to buy and to expect. While we are in a changing economy I’ll be taking advantage of the sort of disorder and pick the colouring from the Fashion Weeks that recently took place in London, Milan, New York and Paris.

My sources of inspirations were the vogue.co.uk and Suzy Menkes’ contributions in the European edition of the New York Times. She listed a five some tones, that I like and expect to be picked up by the interior designers. The tones are: Raspberry, Apricot, Asparagus Green, Burnt Orange and Teal Blue.* This range I would like to complete with Bright Yellow and Cobalt. Later this year I will do some research and check if the interior designers were influenced by the results of these inspiring Fashion Weeks.
