This is photo of the entrance of the Cricket Pavilion, one of India Hick’s properties at Harbour Island. It gives a rather obscure and dark impression of the interiors and this is exactly what a trespasser from a sun lit outside will observe. If a person is entering a house his/her eyes needs time to adjust to the shadows of an interiors. When the trespasser’s eyes are used to the absence of its fierceness of the sun, he/she will see the entrance like the visual beneath.

The nearer the house is located to the equator the sharper the light will be* that contributes to contrasting observations. Therefore it is wise to apply lots of white in your decoration plan. This non-colour will strengthen the cool and breezy vibes of its interiors and create the perfect diffusion of the inner dim light.
The further the house is located from the equator the more the light become less clear, the more grayish tones are needed. This will be explained by the following example.
The Netherlands are situated below sea level, so there the impact of light results in a watery impression that makes bright colours dull. To avoid this dullness the addition of a little grey to warm and cold colours is preferable. This tip seems rather odd, but trust me and have a look at the work of Dutch painters from the Golden Age. Not a single colour has been left untouched.
