Features:
A two room apartment of 100m2 in a former warehouse from the seventeen century.
Lay-out:
The loft is a rental, therefore nothing could be changed, except for the location of the kitchen sink. We placed the sink in the centre of the loft, in order to divide the XL space in a living , a kitchen and a study.
Color:
The loft was delivered in milk white (RAL9010). We set the color palette by our choice for large oak floorboards in whitewash. This is the best match with the grayish green tone, in which the staircase of this old building has been painted. This tone in green is typical for old Amsterdam interiors and we used this Amsterdam green for the upholstery. The cotton velvet curtains the bedroom are in antique beige, suiting the brilliance of the nineteen century wardrobe and writing table. For the large windows in the living we’ve chosen white linen curtains and ditto colored shutters, in order to enhance the sun in this airy space. This in contrast with dark marine painted side tables, an enormous kaki colored dresser and a black shiny dishwasher.
Clutter:
Luckily this loft has been provided with a pantry. We filled this room with Ikea racks (OMAR) and white boxes and created an easy access for the ironing board, a stepladder and Thonet hat stand. This solution for clutter is simple, cheap and presentable to guests.
PS we also used the Ikea OMAR racks for book shelves!
