Last New Year’s Eve I was invited for a South African Champagne buffet by Lynette Hardy, owner of Guesthouse Nenya. Her late nineteen century house has been built in a colonial style and is provided with a veranda that gives you the most magnificent view of one of the Cape valleys. Lynette is a skilled and experienced hostess and she used the veranda as the setting for the Champagne Buffet. She served from a mahogany antiques dresser and styled the buffet with silver trays, crystal glassware and English porcelain. The center point of the dresser is an African vase that mediates well with the West-Europe antiques and the native outlook. For this New Year’s Eve this tip is probably too late, but may be in use for a New Year’s reception. Have a fresh start of 2010!
