This is a photo of my apartment in the south of Amsterdam that I’ve sold a couple of years ago. You can see that the watery winter evening sun is beaming upon the old sliding doors. I bought the place in the autumn of 1999 and at that time I did not realize that the trees would block the sun during the spring- and summer months. So if you’re planning to colour a room, check out if the view is blocked by trees or other objects (like curtains and draperies) that will influence the light. If so, select a colour that will spread the light through the room. If you prefer white walls, the addition of a drop of yellow to the white paint will support this optical trick.
