The design and construction of this new New York boutique hotel has been commissioned by Tim and Kit Kemp , whom are also reponsible for the striking decoration. I became aware of this new Soho asset by an article in the January edition 2010 of the Australian Vogue Living. When you browse through the interiors of this copy of a nineteen century building, presented at the hotel’s site, you’ll notice that the large windows play a dominant role in each space. The decorators did a good job and applied in each room/part of a public area a well attuned game with its light. One good merit of the mass of its glass is that a decorator can combine today’s innovative design with antiques, classics, art and decorative objects. This is possible by the overflow of light that can result in a nice blend of forms, colours and textures. Have a look at the examples below:

Hi Emilie – just to clarify for you – this project is not a conversion, but a new building. they did a good job in capturiing that architectural flavour of the area.

Love Kit Kemp. She has such a fabulous, hard to pin down style. I have stayed at many of their hotels and look forward to the opportunity of seeing this one.
