Velvet is back; the British Vogue categorizes this classic as a trend for next fall | winter. The art of velvet-weaving probably originated in ancient Kashmir around the beginning of the fourteenth century. The first appliance in fifteen century Europe is ascribed to the Italian weavers. This piece of cloth is decorated with the arms (the seven dots in a circle) of the famous Medici family. Originally velvet has been woven in silk; nowadays all kinds of combinations are possible. This fabric, named after the difficult weaving process, is eligable in well lit interiors. It is the light that produces that beautiful glow. We’ve digged into our archives and found some nice examples of benches and sofas, upholstered in velvet.
